Migrating geese fly through a yellow sunset with clouds in vivid hues of blue, violet and purple. The golden light illuminates the grassy prairie, leading off to the dark outlines of trees beneath the Oregon mountains. This landscape, inspired by views of the wetlands at Finley National Refuge, a place I often visit, is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
