Vibrant swirls of sunset colors fill the sky above a mountain lake. A Buddhist monk sits playing his flute beneath a solitary willow tree that has risen from a lake. His yana (boat) has brought him to the other shore. The tree and monk are mirrored in the water as birds fly in the distance. This piece is a further exploration of the line, "The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore" from Thich Nhat Hanh's translation of the Heart Sutra, along with discourses on Buddhism and the yana representing the spiritual journey. This landscape is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
This painting will hang just fine on a nail. Hanging hardware is not included (local art or framing stores can usually be found to add this at a nominal cost).
