A monk passes through a rough-hewn, weathered torii gate on his way to the zen temple in the green fields, next to a waterfall. Geese fly through the clouds over snow-capped mountains. When I first did the pour painting background, that green field was unexpected and I felt immediately drawn to it as a peaceful place for the temple. This zen landscape is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
