The gllimmering full moon floats in the night sky amid layered streaks of black and golden tones, evoking a sense of cosmic vastness. A Buddhist monk sits in his yana (boat), rowing to the other shore, guided by the light hanging from the boat and the luminous moon. The stars and moon are reflected in the water. This piece is a further exploration of the line, "The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore" from Thich Nhat Hanh's translation of the Heart Sutra, along with discourses on Buddhism and the yana representing the spiritual journey. This is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
This painting will hang just fine on a nail. Hanging hardware is not included (local art or framing stores can usually be found to add this at a nominal cost).
