A vibrant sunset casts a warm glow over a lake. Streaks of yellow, orange, pink, and purple blend in the sky above, reflecting in the rippling water below. The silhouette of dragonflies dance among reeds and grasses while a Buddhist monk sits meditating beneath the trees on the further shore of a lake. Perhaps it is Avalokiteshvara as the inspiration for this piece was the line, "The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore" from Thich Nhat Hanh's translation of the Heart Sutra. This contemporary landscape is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
This painting will hang just fine on a nail. Additional hanging hardware is not included (local art or framing stores can usually be found to add this at a nominal cost, if wanted).
