The sun dances in a rainbow sky in a whirling pattern reminiscent of tie dye. A Buddhist monk sits playing his flute beneath the trees on the shore of a lake. Perhaps it is Avalokiteshvara as the inspiration for this piece was the line, "The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore" from Thich Nhat Hanh's translation of the Heart Sutra. Reeds in the corner and birds flying upwards from the trees complete this mystical piece. This colorful contemporary landscape is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
